Mutable Closure

To See the Stars Again

As I was approaching my 40th birthday last year, I found myself in the shoes of Italian poet Dante:

Midway upon the journey of our life
I found myself within a forest dark,
For the straightforward pathway had been lost.

Whether it was the world around me changing, my own long-overdue emergence from adolescence – at last! – or, most likely, a bit of both, one thing was clear: what I knew about life was no longer enough to explain or guide me through what was happening inside and outside of me. The straightforward path had indeed been lost.

I was lucky to have the support of the closest people around me, who encouraged me never to give up the search. But at the same time, I knew that ultimately, any change had to come from me.

So, like a photographer, I started looking for new lenses to enrich my perspective on the world.
